Dr. Boonstra
Dr. Jennifer Boonstra graduated from the University of Illinois in 2006 and holds a Master of Public Health. With extensive specialized training and experience in exotics, zoo, and wildlife medicine, Dr. Jennifer Boonstra completed a Veterinary Fellowship at Shedd Aquarium and is Board Certified with the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM). Dr. Jennifer Boonstra serves on the Executive Board for the ACVPM, the Board of Directors for the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council, and as an alternate member on the AVMA Clinical Practitioners Advisory Committee for zoo and wildlife.
Additionally, Dr. Jennifer Boonstra has conducted and published original pharmacological research involving jellyfish, California Sea Lions, and flamingos. Currently, Dr. Jennifer Boonstra serves as the Attending Veterinarian at UIC Medical College in Rockford and works part-time at a small zoo. With experience in emergency and shelter medicine and surgery, Dr. Jennifer Boonstra is dedicated to advancing veterinary science and animal care.
Outside of work, Dr. Jennifer Boonstra enjoys spending time outdoors with their husband, daughter, two dogs, and several cats.
